Tour basics

Choosing and planning the day

What is the difference between the 3-hour and 5-hour wine tours?

The 3-hour tour is a focused half-day visit to three wineries near Paonia. The 5-hour tour allows more or farther-away wineries, a longer tasting, or an optional food stop when available. Food is purchased separately and is not included in the tour price. Exact stops and timing are confirmed around the season, current winery hours, travel time, and the group.

What are the usual wine-tour hours?

Wine tours are typically offered Monday through Sunday between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with check-in about 15 minutes before departure. Three-hour tours generally run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Five-hour tours generally run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Exact times depend on guide availability, winery hours, and the needs of larger groups.

When is the wine-tour season?

Wine-country days follow winery and seasonal availability. Send your preferred date, and we will confirm what is available for the route and group.

Where does pickup happen?

Standard three- and five-hour tours meet on Grand Avenue in downtown Paonia and return to the same pickup location. Another meeting location may be arranged for your tour. Any additional travel time or pickup charge is reviewed before payment.

Can you create a private or custom experience?

Yes. Private and custom tours are for one group of up to 14 guests, with the tour van, driver, and guide dedicated to the group. Call for pricing. The group's needs, route, timing, and pickup are reviewed before a written quote is provided. Door-to-door pickup and drop-off may be arranged, and a remote pickup fee may apply.

Which wineries do you visit, and what wines do they serve?

Our West Elks AVA guide in the Journal links to the current regional winery directory and individual winery websites. The exact route depends on current hours and availability. Your guide can also provide information about the wineries before the tour begins.

Is food included, and can we bring snacks?

Food is not included in the tour price. Guests may bring their own snacks in the van, and some wineries offer food or charcuterie boards for purchase. On a shared tour, an additional food stop requires agreement from the other guests and uses time that would otherwise be available for winery visits.

Booking and policies

What happens before confirmation

How do I reserve a tour?

Begin with a request online or by phone. We review availability, route, pickup, and group needs, then share the complete price, details, and payment instructions in writing. Follow those instructions when you are ready to confirm the reservation.

How far in advance can I reserve?

You may request a tour up to one season in advance. Please book at least 48 hours ahead when possible. More notice gives us a better chance of confirming the date, time, guide, and winery availability you prefer.

Are tasting fees included?

Tasting fees, wine purchases, and admission to special events are additional. Food is not included in the tour price. Expert guiding, chilled bottled water, wine maps, and winery descriptions are provided.

Do you offer a group discount?

Yes. Groups of 10 to 14 guests receive 10% off the standard wine-tour rate.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation, refund, weather, and operator-cancellation terms are included in the written plan for your request. Review them before payment. If conditions affect safety or access, we will contact you about the available next step.

When is payment due?

Payment timing and any deposit or balance schedule are included in the written plan before you confirm.

Are guests under 21 allowed?

Tell us about guests under 21 when you inquire. Participation depends on the tour format and the policies of each stop.

Comfort and access

Helping the group arrive prepared

What should guests bring?

Bring identification, sun protection, layers, comfortable walking shoes, and anything personal the route or season may require. Chilled bottled water is provided.

How large can a group be?

Private and custom groups may include up to 14 guests. We will confirm the right format and vehicle arrangement for each request.

Can you transport guests for a wedding or private event?

Yes. Wedding and event transportation is planned as a charter or custom service, with pricing based on the event's route, timing, and transportation needs. The van seats up to 14 passengers per trip, and larger guest counts may be accommodated with advance planning.

Can we drink wine in the van?

No. Water is the only beverage that may be consumed in the van. Wine is not permitted because spills can stain the vehicle's seating.

Can accessibility needs be accommodated?

The tour van does not have a wheelchair lift and is not wheelchair accessible. Please share mobility, sensory, dietary, or other access needs before confirmation so we can discuss what the vehicle, route, and stops can accommodate.

What is the pet or service-animal policy?

Share any service-animal or animal-related needs with your request so we can confirm the vehicle, route, and participating-stop requirements.

What happens if weather or wildfire affects the day?

Routes may change when conditions affect comfort, access, or safety. If the day cannot proceed as planned, we will contact you about the available next step under the terms included with your reservation.
